‘Windmills London’, to reverse, heavy, engraved, signed brass key wind movement, string and fusee, verge escapement, to reverse short pendulum, duration 8 days, date display, engraved central matt- silver and gilt barrel vault dial, silver chapter rings, blued steel hand, impressive, large ebonised fine wooden case, evidently from the hall of an English mansion, two doors, glass panels to four sides, pointed bronze upper section with handles to the sides, 81 cm, England, circa 1710, very well-maintained condition, age damage, evidence of restoration, no liability assumed for accuracy and long-term performance, 1 key, 1 book, (HP)
In 1699, Joseph Windmills was the youngest warden of the Cratchetmakers Company, and later a master (Neale, Joseph and Thomas Windmills, p. 176).
