After studying at the glassmaking secondary schools in Nový Bor and Kamenický Šenov, he graduated from prof. Kaplický’s studio in the AAAD in Prague in 1956. His first significant success was at EXPO 58 in Brussels, where he received a gold medal. Between the years 1990– 2008, he was a professor in the Glass Studio at the AAAD in Prague. Vladimír Kopecký is not only a glass artist, but also a painter, and both of these skills complement one another. Glass elements in architecture are also an important part of his work. These monumental works inspired the author in his more intimate works.
The surface lines from arranged flat panes of glass, then drawn and sanded are the principle of the object on offer, Planks.
