South-Persian Silk Embroidery,
Yazd or Kirman (Iran), c. 171 x 110 cm, late 19th century, silk and metal embroidery on red silk ground, prayer motif in filigree execution with vase, gable and columns, open, floral border frames with wavy vine, a few patterns are executed with yellow silk core and heavily oxidised metal threads, all around blue silk ornamental fringes and entirely backed with silk fabric, a few damaged areas including small holes and losses.
