West Turkestan, c. 146 (154) x 133 cm, beginning of the 19th century, this early door carpet cannot be unequivocally attributed to a specific tribe, and a few elements - its sparse warp layering, coarse knotting with c. 1,500 kts/sqm and partially cotton wefts - would seem to suggest an attribution to the group of Chaudor carpets - whereas other characteristics speak against it: its valuable pile wool, its ivory-coloured warp, the high percentage of yellow and the syrga pattern in the main border; in any case, the present is an effortlessly manufactured hand knotted carpet with a different design in both external borders on the left side, very beautiful elem executions and blue insi kush motifs typical of the Salors in the brown-violet fields; with still very deep pile for its age, some old moth damage, kilim ends preserved on both sides, replaced chequered selvedges, finish and fringe damage.
