West Turkestan, c. 43 x 124 cm, no later than the mid-19th century, As2 (asymmetrical knot, open to the right, unlayered), H 40, V 90 = 3,600 kts/sqm; as a result of its brilliant colours with bright blue shades and a well-proportioned pattern, this 6-gul torba can be regarded as one of the best tent bags in this collection, especially worth mentioning are the “bulbous” kotchanak elements on the short sides, the side points of the chemche secondary motifs, reaching almost into the centre of the guls, and the delicate horn motifs in the elem, which can also be found in the Rickmers Collection; perfect pile condition in soft wool quality, all original finishes, on the short sides the woven remains of a former loop for hanging are still preserved, and in the lower section fragments of coloured decorative fringes have survived, a short piece of the kilim back has been folded backwards and stitched.
