Augsburg c. 1700, a “Horizontale Sol & Lunae”, gilt and silvered brass, silver, signed on back of compass “Johann Martin / in Augspurg / 48”, folding plummet holder with plummet and string gnomon, compass with blued steel needle, hour scales from IIII-XII-VIII, revolving lunar rings divided in 29 1/2 and twice 12 hours, bottom of compass with names and latitudes of European towns: “Venetig 45 / Mantua Casal 45 / Mayland Turin 45 / Pingnarol 45 Lion 46 / Bern Offen Gräz 47 / Wien Paris Strasb: 48 / Regenspurg Nürnb:49 / Franckf.
