In the opinion of Gordon Friese, this sheet was printed from the original woodblocks (in the blue foreground one can see the wood grain, something that occurs in original impressions). The white gap to the lower left of the image was visible in the earliest impressions. This was also the case with the bleed to the line of the border under the date seal. The white gap to the upper left has more to do with age-related diminution of the colour palette in the sky. The colours on the sheet are faded. The colour blocks are very saturated due to frequent use, evidence of which can be seen in the opaque application of paint in the sky and water. In comparison with early impressions, the roof of the boat no longer has evidence of bokashi. There is also a lack of bokashi directly under the hull of the boat. Taken as a whole, the colours are of a lower quality than those seen in early impressions, 33.9 x 22.3 cm (image size), 37.2 x 24.9 cm, slight foxing to sheet margin outside the image area, behind glass, framed, (CT)
