On the reverse the panel maker’s mark and the brand mark of the Guild of Saint Luke, Antwerp, two hands and a castle.

The present painting is based on Peter Paul Rubens’s composition in the Alte Pinakothek, Munich (circa 1618/20, oil on panel, 81 x 106 cm).
