porcelain, cylindrical sides with inside gilding, outside with wide and fine gold edges, the octagonal picture field shows a bust turning to the left painted én grisaille, etched frame with glossy golden décor on matte golden ground, angular gold heightened handle with foliate and console ends, saucer with én grisalle painted cenotaph and drapery, on which the inscription TERRIS LUCTUS GAUDIA CCELO, on which applied flowers and reed branches at side, underneath that plinth with grave and crying woman, chalice with host and crucifix, side with two geniuses, height 6 cm, dia. 12.5 cm, KPM sceptre mark around 1826 (Ru)

Tsar Alexander I. Pavlovitch, St Petersburg 23.12.1777- 1.12.1825 Taganrog, Tsar and Emperor from 1801, allegedly aware of the coup in which his father and predecessor Paul I was killed. He enforced the recognition of a Kingdom of Poland joined to Russia in 1815 at the Congress of Vienna as the 'Saviour of Europe', founder of the Holy Alliance.
