A rare tea table, Adolf Loos - Design

c. 1906, manufactured by Friedrich Otto Schmidt, Vienna, round oak tea table with metal fittings, hammered brass, metal rhombuses, brass foot and table rail, table top inlaid with violet ceramic tiles. Height c. 65 cm, diameter c. 86 cm. (MHA)

A similar table was used by Adolf Loos for the establishment of the apartment Wilhelm Hirsch in Pilsen 1907-1908, for which he also designed the 1928 garden room. The tile inserts refer the table to an earlier time.
