porcelain, polychrome painted decoration, in the centre Heracles with lion pelt sitting, his left foot on the vanquished enemy lying with his face on the ground, next to him a waterfall, at top Hippolyta sitting with raised hands, rock base covered in flowers and leaves, total height 46 cm, width 28 cm, depth 32 cm, queen: height 26 cm, width 16 cm; Heracles: height 26 cm, depth 26 cm, width 20 cm; defeated figure: 17 cm, width 28 cm, depth 28 cm, small restorations, Meissen, underglaze blue crossed swords mark c. 1750/1760 (Ru)
Heracles, a Greek mythological hero, must carry out 12 labours at the service of King Eurystheus in order to attain immortality. The present item could depict the 9th labour, obtaining the girdle of Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons.
