Northwest Persia (Iran), c. 255 x 159 cm, about 1870, rare tribal carpet of the Shahsavan nomads, manufactured in the border region between Northwest Persia and the South Caucasus. Superb colour condition, hooked “three medallion” type with octagonal scattered designs. This piece differs from the rather sparsely patterned, geometric Caucasian products; original side edges, slightly low pile in places, the upper right finish repaired.
