The French Revolution is one of the central themes of Hrdlicka’s oeuvre. The portfolio “Die große Französische Revolution” is part of a more comprehensive cycle completed in 1989 to celebrate the bicentenary of the Revolution. The cycle’s contents range from the basic tenets of the revolution, through its historical events and Napoleon’s era, up to the celebrations of 1989.
