A monumental Nalu-Baga Banda mask,
Sierra Leone. Ceiba wood, raffia, 134 cm high. These large dance masks incorporate many aspects of Baga mythology. Besides the braided hairstyle of Baga woman, there are the jaw of a crocodile, horns of an antelope, the body of a snake, and the tail of a chameleon. (VJ)
