Dresden im Zwinger, 1998 exhibition collection, p. 166: In keeping with Augustus the Strong’s great enthusiasm for Chinese and, even more, Japanese porcelain, the Meissen dinner service with the “Red Court Dragon” displays a thorough East Asian influence. Until 1918, the Red Dragon décor was reserved exclusively for porcelain used at the Saxon royal court. Later on, it was produced in different colours for the aristocracy.
