An interesting example of a piece of furniture completely covered with fabric in the Louis XVI style, designed by Alain Gruber for Henri Samuel. Henri Samuel - known for his so-called “goût Rothschild” - helped to restore some Rothschild properties (Château Ferrières, Château Lafite etc.) and was very popular with New York society for his French taste. He recommended Alain Gruber to Lord Jacob Rothschild for the textile redesign of Waddesdon Manor.
