Lotto No. 229

A large sofa table from the Emilie series, designed by Irene Maria Ganser

A large sofa table from the Emilie series, designed by Irene Maria Ganser - Design

in 2020, reduced construction of patinated silicon bronze, the circular top supported on a cylindrical base and circular stand, made in Austria, the surface treated by the artist, diameter approx. 70 cm (MHA)

The Emilie series is an homage to Emilie Flöge, the famous Viennese designer who ran her own fashion salon at the fin de siècle and is known as the muse and companion of Gustav Klimt. The table is also inspired by Viennese coffeehouse culture. For her design, Irene Maria Ganser has interpreted traditional Viennese wickerwork, as it can normally be found in coffeehouses, by casting it in bronze. Once having taken shape and been cast, the woven pattern was polished to a golden finish to stand out from the base even more distinctly. The tabletop individually treated by the artist. From the limited edition of 24. This is the first model, cast in silicon bronze using the lost wax casting technique.
