Sub-Lieutenant Eduard Schwartz was assigned as adjutant to the regiment’s owner, Major General Count August Leiningen-Westerburg. In this portrait he wears the adjutant’s field armband, in the background the picture shows a view of the former Electoral Palace of Mainz on the Rhine. When this painting was executed, General Count Leiningen was a brigadier in the federal fortress of Mainz, which was occupied by Austrian troops.
