The quieter character of Micaëla intended in this staging can clearly be seen in her costume: in muted colors and with a simpler cut, it signals the opposition of the figure to Carmen at first glance. Among the many greats who wore this were Ileana Cotrubaș, Patricia Wise, Barbara Frittoli, Sona Ghazarian, Anja Harteros, Soile Isokoski, Petra Maria Schnitzer, Genia Kühmeier, Adrianne Pieczonka, Krassimira Stoyanova and Anna Netrebko (most recently in 2010).
The costume consists of a blouse and a dress with apron and petticoat, was made of linen and cotton, and is in good condition with signs of wear.
