2020, object trouvé by object artist Udo Breitenbach. Diverse materials. Dimensions: height c. 36 cm (MHA)
The Aschaffenburg-based object artist Udo Breitenbach works with unusual found objects and uses them in a new context. ‘Speaking objects’ from which he reads history and stories, and which he interprets. The results are Dadaesque collages, assemblages or ready-mades. Dadaists opposed the madness of the First World War with ‘the absurd’ - ANTI ART as a creative act of despair. Udo Breitenbach sees himself as a post-Dadaist, who resorts to the language of Dadaism, whilst also dealing with the issues of our time. The present object deals with the pandemic and its effects in a post-Dadaist manner. You don’t know what real DADA tastes like because you use a DADA filter “art”. It is the only one that always delivers a meaningless din, is easy and thorough to clean while being easy to handle, uses the DADA completely and saves 30-40 percent DADA” (Udo Breitenbach, 2020). This is how Post-Dadaist Udo Breitenbach interprets historical Dadaism in one of his works.
