Paris 2018, wool on wool, a very tight weave was used for the especially fine details, this cotton rug can also be used as a wall hanging, measurements c. 140 cm x c. 108 cm. (MHA)
With the fact that many garbage trucks of clothes are burned or sent to a landfill, this rug is handwoven with discarded t-shirts, which is used as its raw material. The present rug is part of a small collection from a series called “N’ importe quoi”, which translates as “whatever”. This suggests that something may seem simple, when in fact there is much more to it. Made in collaboration with La Petite Mort, Paris, France on the occasion of Paris Design Week 2018.
The amount of clothing produced all over the world has doubled in two decades. The fashion industry contributes up to 10% of global greenhouse gas. The materials and the way we use them in fashion can be connected to nature in a sustainable way. These rugs show that you can use design and creativity for good” (Nawaaz Saldulker, 2021)
