East Caucasus, c. 157 x 125 cm, late 19th century. An dated (1317) prayer rug belonging to the fine Caucasian group, with a honeycomb pattern and floral motifs on ivory ground. With newly re-worked edges and a partially trimmed pile, it is well preserved for its age. (VP)
