Martin of Troppau (Martinus Polonus) born in Troppau [Opava], died in Bologna on 12.6.1278, was a German chronicler. Dominican, Archbishop of Gniezno from 1278 onwards, he wrote a "Chronicon" until 1277, intended as a reference work of papal and imperial history, which was often continued and copied as "Martinschroniken".
