Pocket watches with half-quarter repeater are less common on the market. Their origin dates back to the 17th and 18th centuries. The time interval of 7 minutes corresponds to the eighth part of an hour. Therefore, this form of striking mechanism is referred to as 7 1/2 or eighth repeater.
