Brussels (Netherlands), c. 296 x 270 cm, first half of the 18th century, music-making party in a meadow landscape with a simple farmstead on the opposite river bank, the cartoon was executed by the Flemish painter David Teniers, one of his signature features discernible in many tapestries is the urinating farmer, who in the present piece turns his back to the beholder and relieves himself into the water;
the present tapestry is complete with only minimal damaged areas and extremely well-preserved colour condition, entirely secured with linen on the back. (MA)
