Rentsch, round tiered base with wide and narrow gilt edging, polychromed and gilt, height 51.5 cm, small flowers and leaves chipped, left thumb of the boy very slightly chipped, underglaze blue crossed swords mark second half of the 19th century, model N 193, former no. 137, painter no. 5, model by Ernst Julius Hähnel after a design by F. Rentsch, rare mould (Ru)

Friedrich Rentsch, sculptor, Dresden 2.1.1836-17.11.1899 Dresden, from 1873 onwards he taught ornament and figure drawing at the Technical Academy in Dresden, obtaining a professorship in 1888; son of Friedrich Rentsch, a portrait and history painter, drawing master and teacher at the Dresden academy.
