“I make the airs, the spirit, trees, grasses and things of nature with my own forms. Nature, however, does not let her spirit work if her forms are desecrated. Instead she withdraws, leaving behind an amusing, even good picture – and offering her compliments and best regards!”
Max Weiler, Tag- und Nachthefte, 1974

Porphyritic microstructures are large inclusions in an otherwise fine-grained groundmass. The term porphyry is in fact only used for igneous rocks. In this case, the ingots consist of large individual crystals that have developed in the smelting process. The structurally similar characteristics of the Rotliegend sediments led to the (false) name “Pingarten porphyry”.
