A rare “Tectaform” chair mod. 801, designed by Arnold Bode
in around 1952, for Domus Raumkunst, Germany, curved plywood, upholstered, light-coloured, polychrome seat and back cover, height c. 70 cm, width c. 55 cm, depth c. 72.5 cm, height of seat c. 39 cm. (MHA)
A preparatory sketch by Arnold Bode shows this model. The sketch is part of a folder with designs for “Tectaform” furniture, which Bode personally dedicated to the then Domus boss Schöck and dated “mid-February 1953”. Arnold Bode was active in the 1950s primarily as an interior decorator and designer. Together with Werner Haftmann, he founded the documenta in Kassel in 1955, and was its artistic director until 1968.
