An armchair (“Bureau Chair”),
a design used by Adolf Loos, Vienna, c. 1900, for F. O. Schmidt, c. 1905/10, solid oak, the backrest upholstered and covered with leather, lathe-turned legs, saddle seat, height approx. 86 cm, width approx. 60 cm, depth approx. 65 cm, height of seat approx. 46 cm. (MHA)
This model, based on a design by the English company Collison & Lock and adapted by F. O. Schmidt, was used by Adolf Loos for the study of the Haberfeldt apartment (Vienna, 1899), for the Friedmann apartment (1906), and for the headquarters of the Manz’sche Universitäts- und Verlagsbuchhandlung (Vienna, 1912).
