East Caucasus, c. 210 x 143 cm, 19th century. Fine rugs from Perepedil, located south of Kuba, have a distinctive decoration. Curved ram’s horn motifs (“wurma”) lie on a mostly dark ground, with beam-like “swords” projecting into the central field from the sides. Surrounded by a "Kufic border", this specimen shows various traces of use, in good condition. (VP)
