ALFRED-EMMANUEL-LOUIS BEURDELEY (1808-1882) son of LOUIS-ALFRED-AUGUSTE and grandson of JEAN BEURDELEY was the last member of the great dynasty of Parisian cabinet-makers who were independent entrepreneurs from 1818 to 1898 and were considered the first address in Paris for luxurious furniture and gilt bronzes. The company supplied Emperor Napoleon III and Empress Eugenie and exhibited at the two World’s Fairs in 1855 and 1867 (gold medal). They were so successful that they had many imitators, none of whom - except perhaps Henry Dasson and much later Francois Linke - could match them in quality.
