gilt and engraved copper, partly brass, iron lock and bar, of rectangular form, the body with engraved male and female bust, with depiction of a hunter, a hunting dog with hare running into the net, bottom with engraved depiction of a horse in a landscape, hinged lid with openwork depiction of a bridal couple, movable bow handle, on the inside lock with 8 latches, key, 10 x 6.5 x 6 cm, Nuremberg or Augsburg, c. 1620/30, (Lu)

The magnificently executed box is probably a wedding casket with the heads of the couple engraved in the guise of portraits on the front. On the hinged lid the bridal couple is depicted in openwork. Michel Mann, who came from a well-known family of gunsmiths and artisans, can be traced back to 1616 in Augsburg. He subsequently worked in Nuremberg, where he died in 1630.
