A Superb German Baroque Cupboard (‘Hallenschrank’),
Augsburg, mid-18th century, demountable softwood frame with wedge joints, moulded cornice and canted angles on bun feet, walnut veneer, bandings and lesenes with Corinthian capitals, 2 doors with panels (so-called ‘Bastionsfüllungen’), the corners with carved panelling featuring ornamental and floral motifs, base drawer in the form of 2 sham drawers, 2-bar lock with blued decoration, also on the iron bands, shelves adjustable in height by means of racks, interior lined with paper, c. 220 x 203 x 74 cm, former wormholes, several signs of age and use, traces of fading.
