An Elegant Round Louis XVI Side Table, - Mobili e anitiquariato, vetri e porcellane

attributed to CHARLES- ERDMANN RICHTER (master 1784), c. 1790/95, mahogany veneered hardwood trefoil frame on curved legs with brass casters, these inlaid with fluted brass panels and outlined with brass bead mouldings, conical turned column shaft with spiral inlaid brass sheet inlays, marble top with bronze balustrade, height c. 77 cm, diameter c. 45 cm, in restored condition. CHARLES-ERDMANN RICHTER, a native of Saxony, lived in Paris from 1781 onwards. He opened his workshop in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, becoming master in 1784. He worked with renowned cabinet-makers such as JOHANN-HEINRICH RIESENER (1734-1806) and JOHANN-GOTTLIEB FROST- the agent of the leading German cabinet-maker DAVID ROENTGEN (1743-1807). He received several commissions from King Louis XVII, brother of King Louis XVI.
