A Rare Celestial Globe by Joseph Jüttner
Prague 1824/1850, inscribed “Himels-Kugel / auf welcher der Stand / der Gestirne für den / 1. Jänner 1850 / vorgestellt / ist.” and "Bearbeitet / zu / Prag / in Jahres / 1824.” and “Von / Jos. Jüttner / Hauptman / der k. k. Oester.. / Artillerie.”, 18 paper segments and two pole caps, full circle meridian ring made of brass with degree divisions, veneered wooden base with turned ebony centre piece and four curved supports, horizontal ring made of wood with pasted paper ring showing degree divisions, symbols of the zodiac, calendar months with day divisions and 32 cardinal points. The ball partly scuffed, with waterstaining and other damage. Diameter 31 cm, height c. 50 cm.
