„You have to push expression so far that the object is finally swept away. That requires a lot of effort and strength. I now only paint every third day, often much less. I hang about doing nothing in front of the empty surface until I notice an excess of energy within me and then jump at the picture. All hell then breaks loose and I rage like an aircraft engine. I destroy the surface, its glorious whiteness and at the same stroke the old order, the world, I drive it towards its ruin, although you might just as well say towards its perfection. Everything is striving towards new and ever newer states of being until in the end everything explodes. Is that not the purpose of the world?”
