A large clock with inlaid atlas, bird motifs and brass dial with leaf motifs, c. 1928
walnut wood, stained and varnished, with inlaid precious woods; in the protruding lower part the Greek god Atlas holding the heavens on his shoulders; two columns stepped on the sides; semicircular upper part with carved oak motifs and leaves, surmounted by a round clock with brass dial, partly with hammered decoration, the centre with leaves in relief; black decorated metal hands; frame of inlaid motifs with various birds, including an owl, above a rooster; the clock stands on four round flat feet; on the back under the movement an old label bearing the following inscription: "Das Werk wurde von Schülern der Wr. Uhrmacher-Lehrwerkstätte gemacht. Gangdauer 14 Tag. Versehen mit Ankergang in 11 Steinen laufend. März 1928." Movement not tested; signs of age and use; professionally restored; height 94.0 cm, width 49.4 cm, depth 26.2 cm. (MP)
