c. 1960, for Gavina, Bologna, Italy, four-legged structure made of punched, moulded and red-orange lacquered sheet steel, marked on the underside with label. Dimensions: height c. 78 cm, width c. 39 cm, depth c. 43 cm. Signs of age and use, scratches and abrasions, partly with small losses (to the varnish). (MHA)
The first plans for this design were made as early as 1960 by Marco Zanuso together with Richard Sapper. It is considered to be the forerunner of the subsequently mass-produced plastic chairs. At that time, mass production of similar plastic furniture was not yet possible.
