Richter‘s works are characterised by a combination of seemingly random and almost pedantically planned pictorial concepts, exemplified by the 1995 work „Totus tuus sum“ („I belong entirely to you“). He takes inspiration from postcards, theses and ideas to create a new work.

However, Richter seldom pursues a goal defined in terms of image conception and theme from the outset. Instead, he loves the idea that the viewer does not immediately grasp what he or she is seeing.

Richter thinks politically, however he insists that his works do not convey a clear political or socially critical message, but are rather „politicised“ by the viewer and the viewer‘s impression of them.
