At the beginning of the 20th century, in competition with Fabergé, Cartier produced various animal figurines made of semi-precious stones in addition to flowers. A comparable smaller work depicting a pair of turtle doves was displayed in the exhibition "Fabergé/Cartier. Rivalen am Zarenhof", Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, Munich, November 2003 - April 2004. Lit.: catalogue of the exhibition Fabergé/Cartier. Rivalen am Zarenhof, ed.
