The present painting relates to a composition by Anthony van Dyck, conserved in the National Gallery of Art, Washington (acc. no. 1942.9.88) as well as more precisely to an engraving in the reverse by Lucas Vorsterman II after Anthony van Dyck (see the British Museum, London, inv. no. R,2.39).
