A folk festival on the occasion of the inauguration of the fortification in Linz and the imperial visit of Auguste of Bavaria, titled "Die Ankunft I. I. kk. MM. zu dem Volksfeste auf dem Thurme N.12 im Jahre" (the arrival of the majesties at the folk festival on tower no 12 in the year) on a label applied to cardboard support, watercolor on paper, in an old mount, 29 x 41 cm and 44,5x 57,5 cm, unframed, (HU)
The construction of the Linz Tower Line goes back to an initiative of Archduke Maximilian of Austria-Este. The modern fortification comprised 32 towers bearing the names of female saints (shown here is tower No. 12, Agnes). Depicted here, is the visit of Emperor Francis I. and his fourth spouse Caroline Auguste of Bavaria on July 21st,1832.
