Two imposing wall lamps / wall appliques for Hotel Bristol in Bolzano, designed by Flavio Poli


1954, manufactured by Seguso Vetri d›Arte, Murano, Italy, box-shaped brass construction, back with metal plate, pendants made of thick-walled transparent and pink dyed glass decorated in relief, each with four E14 sockets. Dimensions of each wall lamp: height c. 51 cm, width c. 31 cm, depth c. 11.5 cm. Signs of age and wear, scratches and abrasions, without guarantee for electrical fitting. (MHA)

Flavio Poli (1900-1984) was a glass designer based in Venice, Italy. Poli joined Seguso Vetri d›Arte as a design consultant in 1934. During his time there, he worked with both Angelo and Archimede Seguso. During Poli’s collaboration with Seguso, the company exhibited pieces at the 1935 World’s Fair in Brussels, the 1936 Triennale in Milan and the 1937 World’s Fair in Paris. However, some of his most impressive works date from the 1950s. Poli’s work was recently displayed in an exhibition organised by Seguso Vetri d’Arte at the Design Museum in Ghent.
