Another autograph version of this subject is in the collection of the Prince of Liechtenstein, Vienna/Vaduz. Theodoor Rombouts, who spent some years in Italy, was one of the leading representatives of Flemish Caravaggism. His works are characterised by deep shadows and static monumentality, which he inherited from Abraham Janssens.
