A set of three rare armchairs / club chairs, Alfred Porteneuve


(attributed), after a design by Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann from 1917, France, second quarter of the 20th century, four legs, upholstered wood frame construction, one with beige and two with black leather cover, unattached seat cushions with beige and black leather cover. Dimensions of each armchair: height c. 74 cm, width c. 68 cm, depth c. 88 cm, height of seat c. 40 cm. In restored condition with signs of age and use, scratches and abrasions. (MHA)

Alfred Porteneuve (1896 - 1949) was the nephew of Emile Ruhlmann (1879 - 1933). The present model is a tribute to Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann’s ‘Hydravion’ armchair.

Provenance:
acquired by the current owner in France in the 1980s.
