Microscopic repeatability

A reflecting installation of 89 air-inflated, bulging, stone-like structures forming a disorderly circle. In flagship Oskar Zieta’s inox finish, Mercury resembles liquid metallic elements suspended in space or even the actual cells of those. The Dark Matter finish broadens Mercury’s cell-like narration to a universal dimension; therefore, the finish was inspired by remnants of matter circulating in the endless space. Those shivering cosmic wonders reflect and absorb rays of light at the same time. Dark Matter was introduced to Zieta’s objects while experimenting with various shades of transparent lacquers and ended up with the Transitions Collection premiere. Mercury creates a cosmic effect, multiplying and generating flickering reflections of its surroundings. Minimalist and dreamlike, Mercury creates an otherworldly effect when hung on a wall. Each element suggests softness, and tempts the sense of sight, forcing the spectator of the light performance to take a different perspective on the surrounding reality. Mercury performs as a modern convex haut-relief. Its versatility is defined by precision in design and production processes. Each and every piece is manufactured in Oskar Zieta’s proprietary method of free deformation of metal called FiDU technology (Freie Innendruck Umformung); meaning that each and every little object is individually drawn, laser cut into a thin sheet of metal, tightly welded on its edges, and deformed by compressed air from its 2.5D form to a small, 3D, extra- terrestrial object, later composed into an 89-piece constellation.
