A Rare Fortepiano,


manufactured by WILHELM BACHMANN (1788-1856) in Vienna c. 1840, 6 3/4 octaves, Viennese action, veneered and polished with Hungarian manna ash, executed with moulded flame strips, hardwood or softwood body on finely turned legs with brass casters, lyre-like bridge with 2 pedals, keyboard space in rosewood, with floral brass and mother-of-pearl marquetry, longitudinal stringing, soundboard with iron hitch pin plate, which is unusual for that time, ivory keyboard, c. 90 x 240 x 134 cm, restored condition: mechanism and soundboard original, stringing largely original, playable condition without guarantee of sound quality. Due to species protection regulations, export from the EU is not possible.

Instruments by W. BACHMANN are preserved in the Brahms Museum in Mürzzuschlag (A) and the Moravian Museum in Brno (CZ), among others.
